Israel Adesanya, a Nigerian-born UFC star known as “The Last Stylebender,” recently made controversial remarks, claiming that a significant number of women living in Lagos are involved in prostitution, commonly referred to as “runs girls.”
In a video posted on his official X account on Monday, Adesanya criticized Lagos women for their tendency to flaunt their lifestyles, which he suggested are funded by such activities.
Despite his criticism, the former UFC middleweight champion advised these women to be more polite and approachable rather than being arrogant.
Speaking in Yoruba, Adesanya said, “Lagos women like to feel important and act proud. Most of you are runs girls. I now understand what ‘runs girls’ means. Kobo Kobo, ashewo.
“You want to show off. Keep posing and showing off. Nonsense. Just be nice, be friendly, say hi.”
This follows Adesanya’s arrival in Lagos last Wednesday, where he was warmly received after his fourth-round submission loss to South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis in their middleweight title fight at UFC 305 in Perth on Saturday night.
