Chelsea’s planned transfer for Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion has fallen through.The Athletic previously reported that Chelsea had reached a £34.5 million (€40 million) agreement with the La Liga club for Omorodion.He was set to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge with an option for an additional year.
However, the transfer has been called off due to significant issues in finalizing the 20-year-old’s contract.
Since then, the southwest London club has inquired with Atletico about the possibility of signing Joao Felix.
In June, Chelsea had a €32.5 million (£27.4 million) offer plus add-ons for Omorodion rejected.
Last season, he was on loan at Deportivo Alaves, where he scored nine goals and provided one assist, helping them secure a 10th-place finish in La Liga.
Chelsea has explored several striker options this summer, and any potential deal for Omorodion was separate from ongoing negotiations with Napoli for Romelu Lukaku and Victor Osimhen, which are expected to continue.
Born to Nigerian parents, Omorodion has committed his international future to Spain and has been called up to their under-19 and under-21 national teams.
