Nollywood actress Mojisola Adebanjo has acknowledged that her sex appeal and beauty have contributed to her success in securing certain movie roles. In a recent interview with Potpourri, she shared that her physical appearance, facial expressions, and sense of style have often been influential in casting decisions throughout her career. “Yes, I believe my sex appeal and beauty have helped me land roles.
I frequently receive compliments on my looks, particularly my facial expressions, presentation, dress sense, authenticity, and voice. For example, in 2021, I got a role because a photo of me displayed a specific look that resonated with the casting team.”
Adebanjo also emphasized that her versatility is her greatest asset as an actress.
“I consider versatility to be my most important strength. Being able to take on a variety of roles and genres allows me to showcase my talent and connect with different audiences. You can see this in my work in Farida’s Secret and the role I played in the YouTube series Oga Osas, among other projects. Versatility is key to bringing depth and authenticity to each character and leaving a lasting impression. Along with versatility, having a strong work ethic, resilience, and continuously improving my craft are essential for success in this industry.”
Known affectionately as Jisola by her friends, Adebanjo also highlighted the impact of movie streaming platforms on Nollywood’s reach.
“Platforms like Netflix have greatly expanded the distribution and visibility of Nollywood movies. They provide a global audience for our industry, allowing people from different regions beyond the traditional Nigerian and African markets to watch our films. This global exposure not only increases Nollywood’s international visibility but also promotes cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.”
