Justice Haleemah Salman of the Kwara State High Court has convicted five suspects involved in the Offa robbery, finding them guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide.
In a judgment delivered over the course of five hours in Ilorin on Thursday, Justice Salman declared that these crimes are punishable by death and sentenced the convicts to death by hanging.
Reports indicate that the robbery took place on April 5, 2018, in Offa, during which the armed robbers launched multiple gun attacks in the vicinity of a bank, killing 39 people, including pregnant women and police officers.
