The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has called on the leadership of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to reconsider how its members present testimonies during gatherings.
This comes after the Christian body criticized a widely circulated testimony shared by a church member in the previous week. The unnamed individual claimed that an elderly man appeared to her during an exam and provided answers to several questions.
She also mentioned sharing these answers with a member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries present in the examination hall. Bishop Stephen Adegbite, the Chairman of Lagos CAN, denounced the testimony as a complete fabrication.
Adegbite stated that the Christian Association would convene a crucial meeting with the church’s leadership to discuss the contentious testimonies. In a recent interview on Thursday, he confirmed that the meeting had taken place and that the church has been instructed to change its approach to sharing testimonies moving forward.
“We held the meeting last Friday at the CAN secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Representatives from the church attended, and we urged them to be cautious and review their testimony methods. Only someone irrational would think otherwise.”
He added that all five bloc leaders of CAN were present at the meeting, including coordinators from the 57 local government areas in the state.
“Over 100 individuals participated in the meeting, and we thoroughly discussed the testimony issue. Everyone was in agreement. We strongly reject any testimony that lacks reason and sensibility, which could mislead and tarnish the name of Christ. We completely denounce such testimonies.
“We advised the leaders to consult their members about what they intend to share before allowing them to speak. If their remarks are inappropriate for public consumption, they should be disallowed.
God continues to perform miracles; we must adhere to the truth and nothing but the truth,” the CAN chairman emphasized.
