Nigerians have taken to social media to share their views on a newly leaked call recording, allegedly featuring the well-known and controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly called Bobrisky.
On Monday, Bobrisky found himself embroiled in another scandal after social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released what he claimed was a fresh recording. VeryDarkMan stated that the call, recorded on May 16, 2024, is unrelated to a previous leak he had shared.
In the recording, which VeryDarkMan insists is a separate conversation, Bobrisky is alleged to have admitted that he wasn’t in prison but instead in a luxurious apartment close to the prison, among other statements. The leak has stirred a wide range of reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing shock, disappointment, and doubts about its authenticity.
On X, formerly Twitter, users have weighed in. UGo, tweeting as #Oforma19, wrote, “Just a little trick and they claim he was in prison. Imagine Bobrisky with a money laundering case avoiding jail.”
Wills Media, under #WillsMedia247, commented, “The people Bobrisky trusted are his worst enemies. He thought they were friends, but they turned out to be beasts. Why would a trusted friend bring him down like this?”
fm57661959 tweeted, “He-she has to explain why they gave EFCC money to drop the money laundering charges if all the money was legit.”
AdeyemiOladip14 questioned, “How is this guy getting all these recordings? Did they plan to set Bobrisky up, or why is everyone recording their conversations with him?”
Olawale, tweeting as #WealthyWave04, added, “If people in this country weren’t cursed, how could they witness this level of corruption and still criticize the whistleblower just because they don’t like the person? Tomorrow you’ll be shouting for a better Nigeria, yet your behavior is the problem.”
On Instagram, users also reacted under VeryDarkMan’s post. #real___barlow commented, “Bobrisky doesn’t have good friends at all, who leaked this recording again?”
okoruwamiracle asked, “Why bring it to social media? If you have proof, take it to court. Are we the ones to judge?”
officialbhigshaq chimed in, “Sure, Bob lives a certain kind of life, but VeryDarkMan needs to chill. This Bob you’re dragging went to prison for a petty crime that 90% of Nigerians have committed. Why not focus on the real issues like the 2023 election?”
It’s worth noting that in September, VeryDarkMan had released an earlier audio where Bobrisky allegedly admitted to bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges. That recording reportedly came from someone Bobrisky owed money to.
Bobrisky has since denied ever bribing EFCC officers, maintaining that he served his jail time. He also dismissed the first viral recording as fake and urged people to ignore claims that he was never imprisoned.
