The Presidency has responded to reactions following President Bola Tinubu’s departure from the United Kingdom to France, clarifying that the President is still on a two-week leave.

On October 2, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, announced that Tinubu was leaving Abuja for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom as part of his annual leave.

In the statement, Onanuga said, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today for the United Kingdom to begin a two-week vacation, part of his yearly leave. He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.”

However, in a recent development, President Tinubu traveled from the United Kingdom to Paris, France, on Friday.

The Special Assistant to the President on Political and other matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, shared on his verified X handle, @KabirIbrah64, that the President was attending an important engagement. Masari mentioned that he had visited President Tinubu at his private residence in the UK, where they held productive discussions before heading to Paris.

“Today, I had the honour of visiting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at his private residence in the United Kingdom, where we engaged in productive discussions. We then departed for Paris, France, for another important engagement,” Masari wrote.

Addressing comments about the trip, Onanuga emphasized on Friday night that the President is not limited to the United Kingdom during his two-week leave. Through his verified X handle, he stated that President Tinubu is free to travel wherever he chooses during his private time.

“President Tinubu is on leave for two weeks. He is not restricted to the UK. It is his private time. He can go anywhere he so desires. He is still observing his leave,” Onanuga stated.
