In a shocking turn of events, social media sensation Okuneye Idris, better known as Bobrisky, was forcibly removed from a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam late Thursday night and detained by immigration officials.
The popular cross-dresser took to Instagram to share his distressing experience, alleging he sustained injuries during a confrontation with officers, and claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was behind his detention. “Nigerians, help me! EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote.
This incident follows Bobrisky’s prior attempt to flee the country, when he was intercepted at the Sème border on October 22. The controversy surrounding him intensified earlier this year after a Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison for naira abuse. While initially held at Kirikiri Prison, reports suggested he was moved after only three weeks to a private location, sparking allegations of bribery involving a ₦15 million payment for preferential treatment.
The drama escalated further in September when social media influencer VeryDarkMan leaked an audio recording in which Bobrisky purportedly claimed that musician Falz and his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, had solicited ₦10 million from him to secure a presidential pardon during his incarceration.
Both Falz and Falana have since issued a cease-and-desist letter demanding a retraction and public apology for the alleged defamatory statements. Bobrisky has denied making those claims and urged the Falanas to pursue action against VeryDarkMan instead.
