Bolt Driver Apologizes to Rep. Over Altercation, Calls for Unity

A Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, has publicly apologized to Hon. Alex Ikwechegh, House of Representatives member for Aba North/South of Abia State, following a heated altercation during a package delivery.

In a video shared with the press, Abuwatseya expressed remorse and appealed to everyone affected by the incident, urging them to forgive him and let the matter rest.

Reflecting on the incident, Abuwatseya admitted to a misunderstanding with Hon. Ikwechegh and apologized for any offensive remarks he made during the exchange. In his message, he urged Nigerians to set aside differences of religion, tribe, and region, emphasizing the need for unity and support among citizens.

Abuwatseya also took the opportunity to thank his family and supporters for standing by him, describing the experience as a challenging period in his life.

In response, Hon. Ikwechegh issued a public apology, acknowledging that his actions had fallen short of the conduct expected of a public official. The lawmaker, who faced legal proceedings over the incident and was granted bail, stated that he and Abuwatseya had reached a mutual agreement through alternative dispute resolution.

Background on the altercation reveals that Ikwechegh was filmed confronting and slapping Abuwatseya, allegedly over the driver’s perceived rudeness. The video sparked public outrage, leading to calls for accountability.
