“Hope for Araromi as Long-Awaited Road Repairs Begin”

Residents of Araromi in Ikorodu, Lagos State, may soon see long-awaited improvements to their community infrastructure.

Babajimi Benson, a member of the House of Representatives, has officially launched a rehabilitation project on the Araromi-Adamo road, a 1.3-kilometer stretch that has been neglected since 1996.

During Thursday’s commencement ceremony, attended by a NEWS REVIEW correspondent, representatives of Benson urged residents to support the project and allow contractors to complete the work within three months.

Muyideen Sanwo-Ola, who spoke on behalf of Benson, asked community members to prevent disruptions, emphasizing the importance of timely project completion.

Residents expressed relief and gratitude, having endured years of flooding and impassable conditions, especially during the rainy season.

Local leaders, such as Qazeem Oyeniran, Chief of Olufuja-Mojoda Araromi, and Chief Nurudeen Shiriki, Baale of Upenyanwa, described the rehabilitation as a vital turning point for the community, which will finally gain easier access and fewer disruptions caused by weather.

Ademoriti Maruf, a resident, recalled decades of hardship since the road’s last attention in 1996. “We’ve been pleading with the government for help, and now, after 28 years, we’re finally seeing action. This is a significant moment for us,” he said.

With construction underway, the Araromi community eagerly anticipates a smoother, safer route and an end to the isolation that has impacted daily life for so long.
