Tinubu Approves Funds to Settle Military Pension Arrears and Salary Increases

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the release of funds to pay off pension arrears, salary increases, and other entitlements owed to retired military personnel. This decision came after two days of peaceful protests by veterans at the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, who thanked the President for his prompt action. He confirmed that payment alerts for the three-month salary increment have already been received by military personnel.

Matawalle praised Tinubu’s dedication to the welfare of both active and retired military members, emphasizing the administration’s focus on improving their living conditions. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Finance Minister, Mr. Wale Edun, for ensuring the funds’ swift disbursement.

Assuring the Armed Forces of continued support, Matawalle highlighted the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and enhancing the readiness of military personnel. “Despite challenges, Mr. President remains steadfast in uplifting our military as they address national security concerns,” he said.
