Nedu Wazobia Steps Down from The Honest Bunch Podcast Following Controversy Sparked by Deeone’s Allegations Against Verydarkman and Escalating Personal Attacks
LAGOS, NIGERIA – Popular Nigerian radio personality, Chinedu Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, has announced his resignation from The Honest Bunch Podcast. His departure comes amidst a swirling controversy involving social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman.
The controversy originated with an appearance by reality star Deeone on The Honest Bunch, during which Deeone made an allegation against Verydarkman, claiming he had an interest in men. Instead of directly addressing the allegation, Verydarkman shifted the focus to Nedu, publicly releasing private conversations and making accusations regarding Nedu’s alleged relationships with women.
The resulting fallout rapidly escalated, drawing significant attention and criticism. On Friday, Nedu took to his Instagram account to announce his decision to step down from the podcast. In a formal statement, he explained that the intense scrutiny, antagonism, and what he termed “unfounded accusations” had taken a significant personal toll, impacting his peace of mind, his family, and the integrity of The Honest Bunch itself.
Nedu expressed gratitude for his time on the podcast, acknowledging the “incredible journey” and the show’s impact. He emphasized his commitment to open and honest conversations, but stated that the relentless attacks and misrepresentation he experienced made stepping back the only viable option. He expressed hope that his departure would bring an end to the negativity surrounding his name and allow The Honest Bunch to continue its work.

“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me,” Nedu’s statement read. “Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics. But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll.”

He continued, “In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself.”
Nedu reiterated his dedication to fostering meaningful dialogue, but stressed that when such conversations devolve into “relentless attacks and misrepresentation,” stepping back becomes the best course of action. He wished The Honest Bunch continued success and thanked his supporters.
The Honest Bunch Podcast, created by Glitch Africa in 2022, is a talk show featuring four main hosts: Nedu, Husband Material, Deity Cole, and Ezinne.
