Tambuwal Criticizes PDP Defections to APC, Says Politicians With Conscience Won’t Join a Party That Plunged Nigerians Into Economic Hardship
Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, has criticized the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing them as driven by personal gain rather than public interest.
Speaking after the PDP North-West Zonal meeting in Kaduna on Saturday, Tambuwal asserted that no politician with a conscience would join the APC given Nigeria’s current economic struggles. He attributed the defections to “stomach infrastructure”—a term implying self-serving motives.
“With the economic crisis caused by the APC government and the hardship facing Nigerians, there is nothing attractive about the party beyond personal benefits,” Tambuwal stated.
The senator, who represents Sokoto South, urged PDP members and Nigerians to unite in voting out the APC in 2027. Meanwhile, the North-West PDP has vowed to resolve internal conflicts and unseat the ruling party in the next election.
