Singer Portable Declared Wanted by Ogun Police for Allegedly Leading Armed Attack on Government Officials During Building Inspection in Ota

The Ogun State Police Command has declared popular singer Habeeb Olalomi, known as Portable, wanted for allegedly leading a violent attack on government officials.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, around 10:00 a.m. in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. Three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement exercise when they encountered an elderly man later identified as Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar, a property linked to the singer.

Upon requesting the building’s approved plan, Portable’s father informed them that his son was unavailable. However, shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived with a firearm and led a group of nine thugs in an attack on the unarmed officials. The enforcement officers sustained injuries but managed to escape and report the incident. The case was later escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

While nine of Portable’s alleged accomplices were arrested, the singer fled and has since evaded police invitations. Authorities obtained a court order declaring him wanted, urging the public to provide information on his whereabouts.

This development follows the recent arraignment of nine of Portable’s associates before a Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, for allegedly assaulting government officials. They face charges including felony, assault, and possession of weapons. The court granted them N5 million bail each, with the case adjourned to March 17, 2025.
