Singer Portable Surrenders to Lagos Police Over Alleged Assault, Transferred to Ogun Command Upon Arrival on February 19 for Investigation
Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has arrived at the Ogun State Police Command in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed his arrival at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 1:23 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Portable had earlier surrendered himself at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the Ogun command was contacted to take custody of the singer.
His legal troubles stem from an alleged assault on three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement exercise in Ota. Following the incident, nine of his associates were arrested and arraigned on charges including assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
After Portable failed to respond to police invitations, the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted. In a series of videos on Tuesday, the singer described himself as a “madman undergoing treatment” at a neuropsychiatric hospital and pleaded for leniency.
Odutola assured the public that due process would be followed and urged against the spread of unverified information.
