Delta State Government and NIPCO Gas Sign MoU to Establish CNG Vehicle Conversion Center in Asaba, Pushing for Cleaner and More Affordable Transportation

ASABA, Delta State – The Delta State Government and NIPCO Gas Limited have formalized an agreement to establish a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion center in Asaba. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed yesterday, with key state officials including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, and NIPCO Gas Limited representative, Mr. Sanjay Tarat, participating in the ceremony.

The initiative, spearheaded by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, aims to facilitate the transition from petrol-dependent vehicles to CNG-powered ones, offering residents a more sustainable and cost-effective transportation option. Dr. Emu emphasized the government’s commitment by providing a 3,000 square meter facility for the project.

He further stressed the importance of timely and quality execution, warning that the state reserves the right to revoke the MoU should NIPCO Gas Limited fail to meet its obligations. Dr. Emu highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s strong advocacy for CNG technology and the government’s dedication to establishing the necessary infrastructure for its widespread adoption.
