DSS Arrests Three Lagos Assembly Workers After CCTV Footage Confirms Attack on Personnel, Suspects Released on Bail
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested three workers of the Lagos State House of Assembly for allegedly assaulting its personnel on February 18.
The incident occurred after DSS officers were deployed to the Assembly following a formal request for enhanced security. A letter dated February 14, 2025, and signed by Acting Clerk A. T. B. Ottun, had instructed the DSS to enforce strict access control at the complex from February 15.
According to a DSS source, some individuals attacked the personnel on duty, prompting an investigation. CCTV footage analysis led to the identification and subsequent arrest of three suspects: photographer Ibrahim Olanrewaju Abdulkareem and two staff members attached to the Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms, Adetu Adekunle Samsudeen and Adetola Oluwatosin Fatimoh. They were tracked and apprehended at different locations in Lagos.
The suspects are expected to face legal proceedings. However, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, confirmed that they have been released on bail.
