PSC Appoints Six New DIGs, Promotes AIG, Commissioners, and Senior Officers in Major Police Reshuffle
Abuja, Nigeria – The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced a significant reshuffle within the Nigeria Police Force, approving the appointment of six new Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs). The newly appointed DIGs are:
- Sadiq Abubakar (Commandant Police Academy, Wudil, Kano)
- Benjamin Okolo (AIG Department of Information Communication Technology, Force Headquarters Abuja)
- Williams Adebowale (Commandant, Police Staff College Jos)
- Bzigu Bali (AIG FCID, Annex Enugu)
- Idegwu Basil Ukuoma (AIG Zone 14, Katsina)
- Adebola Ayinde Hamzat (AIG Zone 16 Yenagoa)
In addition to the DIG appointments, Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu, formerly of the Enugu State Command, has been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
The PSC also announced the following key command appointments:
- CP Ademola Johnson, formerly Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, will now head the Oyo State Command.
- CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, formerly DCP Operations Kaduna and Imo State Commands, has been appointed Commissioner of Police for Enugu State.
Furthermore, eight Chief Superintendents of Police have been promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police.
PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani emphasized that all promoted officers underwent written examinations and interactive oral interviews.
PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), urged the newly appointed DIGs to provide full support to the Inspector-General of Police in maintaining national security and upholding law and order.
