Lagos APC Dismisses Claims of Obasa’s Resignation Deal as Speaker Holds Peace Talks, Moves to Withdraw Lawsuit Amid Assembly Leadership Crisis

LAGOS — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has dismissed claims that Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, agreed to resign as part of the settlement in the House leadership crisis.

Obasa, who was re-elected on Monday after Mojisola Meranda stepped down, held a reconciliation meeting with aggrieved lawmakers just 24 hours after his return. The meeting, attended by 39 legislators, aimed to restore unity within the House.

Amid speculation that Obasa would step down within 48 hours to allow a new Speaker from Lagos West, APC spokesperson Seye Oladejo refuted such claims, stating that Obasa’s resignation was never part of the agreement.

Meanwhile, sources confirm that Obasa is set to withdraw the lawsuit challenging his previous removal. The House is expected to resume tomorrow.
