Kanye West Admits He’s Not a Fan of Kendrick Lamar’s Music, Criticizes His Feature on Playboi Carti’s Album and Calls J. Cole’s Apology a Mistake
American rapper Kanye West, known as Ye, has publicly stated his dislike for Kendrick Lamar’s music, despite acknowledging Lamar’s rapping talent.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) late Friday, Kanye West voiced his dissatisfaction with Lamar’s feature on Playboi Carti’s new album, I Am Music, writing, “I don’t like Kendrick Lamar’s music.
He raps very good but I didn’t need to hear him on Carti’s album.” This statement follows Kanye West’s recent criticism of rapper J. Cole, who apologized for a diss track aimed at Lamar.
Kanye West argued that Cole’s apology, delivered during the 2024 Dreamville Festival, was a mistake, following Lamar’s perceived disses towards Cole and Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Like That.”
