House of Representatives Moves Forward with Bill to Strip Vice President, Governors, and Deputies of Constitutional Immunity to Enhance Accountability
A bill seeking to revoke the constitutional immunity of vice presidents, governors, and deputy governors has passed its second reading in the House of Representatives.

The proposed amendment, sponsored by Rivers State lawmaker Solomon Bob of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cleared the hurdle during Wednesday’s plenary session. Bob stated that the bill aims to “promote accountability in public office” by eliminating legal protections currently granted to these officials.
