Taye Currency Declares Pasuma as His Boss, Calls Osupa a Colleague, and Apologizes for Misunderstood Remarks

IBADAN, NIGERIA – In a series of evolving statements, Yoruba Fuji musician Alhaji Taye Adebisi, known as Taye Currency, has clarified his professional relationships with fellow artists Wasiu Alabi (Pasuma) and Saheed Osupa.

Last Thursday, in an interview with Akede Ariya, Currency stated that Pasuma is his “boss,” citing a 30-year relationship and Pasuma’s humility. He emphasized that while he did not learn Fuji from Pasuma, he holds him in high regard.

Currency also classified Saheed Osupa as a “colleague.” He explained, “Pasuma is my boss because I admit it. Saheed Osupa, on the other hand, is my colleague; I know him just as a singer.”

Currency addressed prior controversies, particularly regarding fan interpretations of his statements about Pasuma being his “father” in the industry, which he refuted in October 2024. He attributed any perceived conflict to fan reactions and misunderstandings, stating, “We are not fighting. Those who are insulting us are berating and disrespecting us.”

However, a significant development occurred on Wednesday during the Umrah 2025 in Mecca. In a viral video, Taye Currency apologized to Pasuma and anyone offended by his previous remarks.

He explicitly acknowledged Pasuma as his “superior,” retracted any implications of insult, and reaffirmed his respect and commitment. Currency attributed the previous controversy to misinterpretation of his words and expressed regret. He said his words were misinterpreted.
