Suspected Killer of Ondo Businessman Awoyinka Sumaila Arrested in Osun as Police Recover Murder Weapon and Charms
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested the suspected killer of Alhaji Awoyinka Sumaila, a prominent building materials dealer who was gunned down at his residence in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, on March 1.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olushola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Akure. According to Olushola, the prime suspect, identified simply as Ijalo, was apprehended on April 10 in Osogbo, Osun State, following a discreet and thorough investigation.
“The arrest came after a painstaking manhunt that eventually led operatives back to Ore,” he said.
A locally-made pistol, believed to have been used in the killing, along with criminal charms, was recovered from the suspect’s residence during the operation.
Olushola assured residents that the police remain committed to flushing out criminal elements from the state.
