Three Family Members Killed in Fresh Attack on Zogu Community, Plateau State as Troops Arrest Two ISWAP Suspects and Recover Weapons in Multiple Military Operations
Barely days after the Bokkos massacre, fresh violence has struck Plateau State as three members of the same family were killed in Zogu community, Miango District of Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area.
The Irigwe Development Association (IDA), through its National Publicity Secretary, Sam Jugo, confirmed the incident, stating that the attack occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2025.
According to Jugo, “IDA has been notified of yet another attack on Zogu village, Miango, which claimed the lives of a father and his two sons: Weyi Gebeh, aged 56, Zhu Weyi, 25, and Henry Weyi, 16.”
This brings the death toll in Irigweland to nine within a week. The IDA expressed deep concern over the spate of killings and called on security agencies and the Plateau State Government to act swiftly and decisively to end the violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“The continuous invasion of our land and killing of our people with impunity suggests a more sinister agenda,” Jugo said.
In a separate development, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) arrested two suspected members of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a sting operation on April 11 in Shendam Local Government Area.
Major Samson Zhakom, the OPSH Media Information Officer, disclosed that the suspects Abdulkadir Dalhatu and Ubaidu Hassan, both 25 years old were posing as tailors and allegedly planning to set up ISWAP bases in Plateau and Bauchi States.
In related operations, troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and magazine at a criminal hideout in Mazat village, Barkin Ladi, and neutralized a bandit along the Pinau Bangalala road in Wase LGA, recovering a fabricated pistol.
Authorities have urged the public to provide credible information to support ongoing military efforts against criminals across the state.
