Nigerian Police Condemn Officers Seen Collecting ₦5,000 in Viral Video, Say Action Unprofessional and Disciplinary Measures Underway
The Nigeria Police Force has strongly condemned the conduct of some of its officers caught in a viral video receiving ₦5,000 from a Chinese national, labeling their actions as unprofessional and unethical.
The video, which quickly gained traction on social media, drew widespread outrage from the public and triggered a swift response from the Force.
In an official statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police stressed that the behavior of the officers involved does not reflect the core values and ethical standards of the institution.
“The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behavior and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence,” the statement read.
The officers seen in the footage have been identified and are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures. The Police said this is part of ongoing efforts to ensure internal accountability and restore public confidence in the Force.
Additionally, the Police issued a warning to individuals and organizations using police personnel—especially for escort and guard services—to avoid actions that could degrade or compromise the integrity of officers or damage the image of the Force.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Nigeria Police emphasized its dedication to professionalism, transparency, and discipline, stating that any form of misconduct will be met with appropriate sanctions.
