The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that five people have now been confirmed dead following the collapse of a three-storey building in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday at 9 & 10 Oremeta Street, initially claimed one life and left nine others injured. The building, which housed a restaurant, trapped both staff and customers under the rubble.
In an update on Sunday, the Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its coordinator Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, reported that the death toll has increased to five. The victims include two adult males and three females. Fifteen others — six adult females and nine adult males — were rescued alive.
LASEMA has since cordoned off the area and assured that safety measures are in place as search and rescue efforts continue.
