Bayelsa Yenagoa – The Bayelsa State Police Command has begun a manhunt for a suspected Internet fraudster after the lifeless body of a young girl was discovered in a hotel room in the Igbogene area of Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to sources who spoke to NEWS REVIEW on condition of anonymity, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday and has sparked fear and concern among residents in the area.
Investigations revealed that the deceased had checked into the hotel with a young man believed to be an Internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a “Yahoo boy.” Shortly after their arrival, the suspect reportedly left the premises, leaving the girl behind.

The hotel manager later found her dead and immediately reported the matter to the Igbogene Divisional Police Headquarters.
“A young girl was found dead in a hotel room in Igbogene on Saturday,” the source confirmed. “She checked in with a suspected Yahoo boy who fled shortly after. The hotel manager discovered her body and alerted the police.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr Musa Muhammad, told NEWS REVIEW on Sunday that an investigation is underway.
“We received the report on Saturday. Although no arrest has been made yet, we are conducting a thorough investigation to bring the suspect to justice,” Muhammad said. “An autopsy will be carried out to determine the actual cause of death.”
